Who we are
Smith Automations is a sole proprietorship operating from California. It builds websites and AI communication systems for local service businesses. This policy covers smithautomations.io and the work we do for clients. Questions about any of it go to smizzle.official@gmail.com.
The short version
This website does not track you. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and carries no advertising pixels. We collect personal information only when you deliberately hand it over, which on this site means sending an email or booking a call.
The longer sections below say the same thing with the detail the law expects, and cover what happens with client work, where more data is involved.
What this website collects
When you visit smithautomations.io, our host records standard server logs. These typically include your IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and the time of the request. Logs are how a website stays online and secure, and we do not use them to build a profile of you.
Beyond that, the site collects nothing automatically. Specifically, and as of the date at the top of this page:
- No cookies are set by this website. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
- No analytics of any kind. We do not know how many people visit, how long they stay, or where they came from.
- No advertising or conversion pixels from Google, Meta, or anyone else.
- No fonts loaded from a third party. Our typefaces are served from our own domain, so your browser does not contact an outside font provider when the page loads.
If that changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves.
What you give us on purpose
Two things on this site ask for information, and both require you to act first.
- Email. The contact links open your own mail client. We receive whatever you write and the address you send from. That currently arrives at smizzle.official@gmail.com.
- Booking a call. The Book a call buttons hand you to Cal.com, which is a separate company with its own privacy policy. What you enter there, typically a name, an email address, and a time, is collected by Cal.com and passed to us. We use it to hold the call and to follow up about the work.
We use this information to reply to you, to prepare for and hold the call, and to discuss a possible project. We do not add you to a marketing list you did not ask for, and we do not sell it.
Information we handle for clients
When you become a client, our work involves systems that handle personal information belonging to your customers. The website forms we build, the chat and phone agents that answer, and the SMS and email follow-up all touch data about the people contacting your business.
In that arrangement your business is the one deciding what happens to that data, and we act on your instructions. Our contract sets out who is responsible for what. Two points are worth stating here because they affect the people on the other end of those messages:
- SMS and email follow-up runs on consent. We build these systems to send messages only to people who have given permission, to include a working opt-out in every message, and to send within reasonable hours. Honouring opt-outs is not optional and the systems are built to respect them automatically.
- AI systems answer on your behalf. When a chat or phone agent replies to your customer, the conversation is processed by an AI provider in order to generate the reply. Conversations may be retained so that a booking can be honoured and a thread can be picked up later.
If you are a customer of one of our clients and you want your information removed, the fastest route is the business you contacted, because the data is theirs. You can also write to us and we will pass it on.
Who else touches the data
We keep the list of third parties short on purpose. As of the date above, the companies involved in running this website and our business are:
- Vercel, which hosts the website and keeps the server logs described above.
- Cal.com, which handles call bookings when you choose to book one.
- Google, as our email provider, which is how a message you send us is received and stored.
- For client projects, the specific providers that project needs, such as a phone or messaging network and an AI provider. These are named in the client's own contract.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, which is the kind of sharing that lets an advertising network follow someone from one site to another. That is why this page carries no Do Not Sell or Share link. If we ever start running advertising technology that changes this, we will add that link and say so here first.
Your rights in California
California residents have rights over personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act. Those rights include:
- The right to know what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who we shared it with.
- The right to delete personal information we hold about you.
- The right to correct personal information that is inaccurate.
- The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do neither, so there is nothing to opt out of today.
- The right not to be treated differently for exercising any of these rights. We will not refuse to work with you, charge you more, or give you a worse service because you asked.
To use any of these rights, email smizzle.official@gmail.com and say what you want. We will need enough information to be confident you are who you say you are, which usually means writing from the address we already have for you. We aim to respond within 45 days, which is the period the law allows, and we will tell you if we need longer.
You can ask someone to make a request on your behalf. We will ask for proof that you authorised them.
These rights are written into California law, and we extend the same handling to anyone who asks, wherever they are. It is simpler than maintaining two standards, and there is no version of this where we would rather keep your data than delete it.
How long we keep things
Email and booking records are kept while we are talking about a project and for as long afterwards as we need them for our records, tax obligations, or a live contract. Server logs are kept for a short period by our host as part of normal operations.
Data inside a client's own systems is kept according to that client's needs and their contract with us. When an engagement ends, we return or delete what is ours to return or delete.
Security
We use reputable providers, keep access limited to the people who need it, and do not hold data we have no use for. The single most effective thing we do is collect very little in the first place.
No system is perfectly secure, and we are not going to claim otherwise. If a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Children
This site is aimed at business owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be described rather than slipped in. The version you are reading is the one that applies.
